SBM or injection stretch blow molding is one of three options for blow molding applications. Injection stretch blow molding is used specifically to create carbonated beverage containers. It is similar to injection blow molding in that the melted plastic material is injected around a blow tube. The top of the container is preformed when the plastic material is injected around the core. The plastic material is stretched downward into the mold as the pressurized air is injected from the blow core. This style of blow molding allows for rapid production of simple bottle shapes.
